Abstract
Esta tesis doctoral persigue demostrar y analizar (en mayor detalle y de una manera original e innovadora que no se ha realizado hasta la fecha) la relación entre la absorción de los fondos europeos ofrecidos en el marco de la Actividad 4.4 del Programa Operativo Economía Innovadora, y el incremento de la innovación y el desarrollo del sector de las pequeñas y medianas empresas en el contexto de Polonia. Teniendo en cuenta la enorme heterogeneidad de las entidades económicas estudiadas, queriendo comprender mejor sus diferentes aspectos y sensibilidades, sabiendo la insuficiencia de la información contenida en la literatura analizada, así como buscando fomentar la calidad de la investigación procedida y obtener las conclusiones más completas, se ha decidido realizar un diseño metodológico de carácter mixto (triangulación de métodos). Es decir, combinando técnicas cualitativas (entrevistas en profundidad) y cuantitativas (el análisis de la encuesta online a los beneficiarios de la Actividad 4.4 PO – EI). El marco temporal de la investigación se ha centrado en el periodo 2007-2013. Sin embargo, y con el objetivo de proceder a una evaluación más completa, se ampliaron algunas partes del trabajo presentado, ofreciendo una mayor capacidad explicativa longitudinal. The changes that have taken place in Poland during its accession to the European Union make necessary to acquire and deepen knowledge and skills not only on European integration process, but also about everything related to the EU itself. On the other hand, small and medium enterprises play a key role in developing the economies of the Member States. Contributing to economic growth, they take advantage of local production factors allowing the leveling of imbalances in the labor market, among others. Therefore, the main objective of this thesis is to explain the relationship between the stated issues not only in the greater detail, but also in an original and innovative way that has not been done till now. Likewise, this study seeks to demonstrate and analyze the relationship between the absorption of European funds offered under the Activity 4.4 of the “Innovative Economy” Operational Programme and the increase of innovation and development of the SMEs sector in Poland. Through its development it is also to respond to a number of secondary objectives: - To stress the importance of Cohesion Policy and its place among the constitutional policies of the European Union. - To analyze the SMEs possibilities to access the external sources of funding in order to develop and implement innovative projects. - To evaluate the influence of the absorption of the Activity 4.4 of IE – OP resources on the SMEs activity in context of innovation and development. - To designate the limitations of the EU funds use in order to finance the innovative projects of small and medium enterprises. - To demonstrate the relationship between the implementation of EU funds and development of small and medium enterprises. Thus, the development of the presented work helped to verify the main hypothesis: the absorption of structural funds influences the degree of innovation of small and mediumsized enterprises, improving their market position against its competitors...
