Abstract
El objetivo de esta tesis doctoral es investigar sobre una subclase de la coordinación en español, la Coordinación Distributiva. Sus intrincadas propiedades formales y semánticas han suscitado en mí el interés de realizar un estudio profundo que pueda desentrañar, al menos en parte, su Sintaxis. En la lingüística española se distinguen tres clases de coordinación dotadas de conjunciones específicas. Estas clases son: (i) la coordinación copulativa, (ii) la coordinación disyuntiva y (iii) la coordinación adversativa. Pero varían las perspectivas, tanto sintácticas como semánticas, sobre las construcciones distributivas. Las opiniones de los gramáticos en torno a estas construcciones se dividen en dos. Por una parte, algunos plantean que la distributividad es una propiedad puramente semántica, con lo cual no existirían conjunciones distributivas. El resultado de esta propuesta ha llevado a los gramáticos de este grupo a plantear que las construcciones distributivas son construcciones meramente yuxtapuestas o paralelas. Por otra parte, otros admiten la existencia de construcciones distributivas, suponiendo que dichas construcciones son construcciones coordinadas, pero no como una subclase de la coordinación; por eso las clasifican como un subtipo de la coordinación disyuntiva. En nuestra tesis hemos procurado analizar y examinar las propiedades de las construcciones distributivas en español, para dar una clasificación satisfactoria del estatus de dichas construcciones. The aim of this doctoral thesis is to examine a subclass of coordination in Spanish, namely, Distributive Coordination. Its complex formal and semantic properties have inspired me to carry out an in-depth study that might unravel, at least in part, its Syntax. In Spanish linguistics, there are three types of coordination with specific conjunctions. These classes are: (i) copulative coordination, (ii) disjunctive coordination, and (iii) adversative coordination. There are different opinions, both syntactical and semantic, on distributive constructions. Grammarians can be divided into two groups regarding these constructions. On the one hand, some suggest that distributivity is purely semantic, and as such distributive conjunctions would not exist. This proposal has led grammarians from this group to suggest that distributive constructions are just juxtaposed or parallel constructions. On the other hand, other grammarians accept that distributive constructions do exist, on the basis that these constructions are coordinated constructions, but not as a subclass of coordination; for this reason, they categorise them as a subtype of disjunctive coordination. In our thesis, we have aimed to analyse and examine the characteristics of distributive constructions in Spanish in order to give a satisfactory classification of the status of these constructions.
