Abstract
La presente memoria para optar al grado de doctor lleva por título Historia de la alegría en el cristianismo primitivo: desde Pablo a Clemente de Alejandría. El tema principal está relacionado con la emoción de la alegría entre los primeros cristianos, siendo, no obstante, el propósito principal estudiar el desarrollo histórico del concepto de la alegría entre los principales autores cristianos del siglo I y II. El objetivo básicamente consiste en realizar un análisis diacrónico de las características de la alegría cristiana. Con características nos referimos en las siguientes páginas, por un lado, a las cualidades particulares de la concepción cristiana de la alegría y, por otro, a los elementos con los que la alegría se relaciona. En consecuencia, en la presente tesis doctoral, nuestro esfuerzo se centrará en analizar estas nociones, a través del tiempo, en la literatura cristiana de los dos primeros siglos.La metodología para alcanzar el objetivo general en el presente trabajo de investigación será estrictamente de carácter histórico-filológico, que en las siguientes páginas se plasmará en la exégesis de los textos cristianos, pero también grecorromanos y judíos, del siglo I y II en donde la alegría sea mencionada con preeminencia para así, de esta manera, observar la concepción, y la consecuente evolución, de la noción cristiana de la alegría en el cristianismo primitivo y poder establecer paralelos con la cultura del entorno. Asimismo, en el siguiente análisis, se procederá al estudio de la alegría desde una perspectiva antropológica —donde se tome en cuenta el factor sociocultural— y cognitiva —en el que se tome en consideración las causas y los juicios valorativos— de las emociones...
This report to receive a PhD is entitled The History of Joy in Primitive Christianity: from Paul to Clement of Alexandria. The main theme relates to the emotion of joy among the early Christians; the main purpose, however, is to study the historical development of the concept of joy among the main Christian authors of the first and second century. The objective consists of carrying out a diachronic analysis of the characteristics of Christian joy. These characteristics refer, on the one hand, to the particular qualities of the Christian conception of joy and, on the other, to the elements to which joy is related. Consequently, this analysis examines the progression of these themes in the Christian literature during the first two centuries.The methodology to achieve this dissertation’s general objective is strictly historical-philological, This approach involves the exegesis and analysis of Christian texts as well as the relevant Greco-Roman and Jewish texts from first and second century in which the concept of joy receives significant mention; By doing so, one can discern the conception and the consequent evolution of the Christian notion of joy within primitive Christianity, through which cultural parallels may be detected. Also, in the following analysis, we will proceed to the study of joy from an anthropological perspective (where the sociocultural factors are taken into account) and a cognitive perspective (where we examine the causes and evaluative judgments of the emotions)...
