La esclerosis múltiple (EM) es la enfermedad desmielinizante más frecuente y la primera causa de discapacidad neurológica no traumática en adultos jóvenes. Es clínicamente heterogénea, incluye síntomas motores, cognitivos y fatiga. Esto es el resultado de una combinación de los principales procesos fisiopatológicos involucrados: inflamación, desmielinización, daño axonal y neurodegeneración. En los últimos años, se han desarrollado distintas terapias modificadoras de la enfermedad, dirigidas a actuar sobre el sistema inmunitario, con un efecto antiinflamatorio, que tienen por objetivo de intentar prevenir las recaídas y ralentizar la progresión de la discapacidad...
