Abstract
The excellent outcomes achieved with liver transplantation (LT) have led to an increase in the number of candidates on the waiting list. However, the number of available liver grafts remains stable. The historical shortage of livergrafts and subsequent mortality on the waiting list (5.2% in the year 2019) have led to expanding the donor pool by utilizing livers from extended criteria donors, such as those from split liver (bipartition), grafts from brain-dead donors, orliving donors, grafts from donation after circulatory death (DCD) donors, etc. Thus, our group has obtained a greater number of donors, mainly by using grafts from older donors without age limits, a practice initiated by us in the year 1996...
