Abstract
La presente tesis estudia el fenómeno de la narrativa española de testimonio actual, ala que hemos optado por denominar «novela de la crisis». Se trata de un trabajo bastante novedoso ya que en él se realiza, por primera vez, un análisis global de la materia. Durante la Transición y las primeras dos décadas de democracia, la narrativa en nuestro país se caracterizaba por permanecer ajena al retrato de su actualidad. Esta inercia escapista parecía destinada a cambiar tras el golpe que supuso la caída de Lehman Brothers y el consecuente pinchazo de la burbuja inmobiliaria. Nos cuestionábamos, por tanto, si el cambio traumático de paradigma económico habría dejado un reflejo en la producción literaria y si podríamos constatar un nuevo brote testimonial en la narrativa española. Aun así, conocíamos los nombres de cuatro autores —Rafael Chirbes, Belén Gopegui, Isaac Rosa y Marta Sanz— que antes de 2008, y frente a la tendencia mayoritaria escapista, escribían ficciones preocupadas por la realidad de su momento histórico. Sus novelas incorporaban asuntos, hoy habituales, pero que por aquel entonces se hallaban invisibilizados(el abuso de las empresas, la falta de democracia, las ínfimas condiciones laborales, la corrupción, la especulación inmobiliaria o la precariedad, por ejemplo). This dissertation studies the phenomenon of current testimony in Spanish narrative,which we have decided to designate as «novel of the crisis». It is a quite innovative workbecause it offers a global analysis of the subject for the first time.During the Transition and the first two decades of the democracy, the narrative genrein our country predominantly remained alien to the representation of current events. Thisescapist inertia seemed destined to change after the downfall of Lehman Brothers and theconsequent real estate bubble burst. We questioned whether the traumatic transformation ofthe economic paradigm would have made an impact on literary production and if we couldconfirm a new testimonial outburst in Spanish narrative.Nonetheless, we knew the names of four authors —Rafael Chirbes, Belén Gopegui,Isaac Rosa and Marta Sanz— who prior to 2008, and opposite to the predominant escapisttendency, had written pieces concerned about the reality of their historical moment. Theirnovels incorporated issues that nowadays are common, but then remained invisible(companies abuse, lack of democracy, poor working conditions, corruption, real statespeculation or precariousness, for example). Their trajectory forced us to question if thefinancial crisis was the exclusive trigger of the resurgence of social literature...
